This line actually comes from the fictional gangster movie Angels With Filthy Souls that Kevin watches. This funny line comes from the McCallisters' talkative neighbor, Mitch Murphy, who only has a brief appearance but has an important place in the story as he's part of the series of mishaps that allow Kevin to be left behind in the first place. Kevin is afraid of fairly simple unknowns in his life, like chores or the scary old furnace in the basement but Marley, towards the end of his life, is scared of unknowns like not knowing what his son will say to him after the two haven't spoken in a long time. The way that the two characters help each other with their fears is one of the many reasons that Home Alone has aged so well.

To create the illusion that the film was an authentic 1940s gangster film, the scene was filmed on black-and-white negative film, and Johnny's office featured props from that era. Like much of the film, most of the sequence was shot with low, wide angles that, according to journalist Darryn King, "capture the action as if a child were perceiving it". Daniel Stern was cast as Marv, but before shooting started, he was told that the production schedule had been extended from six weeks to eight. He dropped out after as he would not be paid more for the extended schedule.

Especially considering their general treatment of Kevin when they’re not traveling; from yelling at Kevin, belittling him, to simply relegating him to something along the lines of a home fixture than their youngest, most vulnerable child. Kevin is astute when at getting himself out of predicaments, and his method of choice is lying. Home Alone 2 reiterates this characteristic tenfold; Kevin virtually lies to get everything he wants after getting separated from his parents. He lies to scare away the hotel staff when they try to confront him about his parents whereabouts.

They kept to the master suite on the second floor while the film crew worked downstairs, allowing the family to periodically interact with Macaulay Culkin and the other cast members. Daniel Roebuck was hired to replace him, but after two days of rehearsal, Columbus felt he was lacking chemistry with Pesci and brought back Stern. Roebuck later said that, although he was upset to be fired from the production, he now believed the experience was "a little blip of unimportance". Chris Farley auditioned for the role of the Santa Claus impersonator, but he failed to impress Columbus. Hughes had asked Patrick Read Johnson to direct, but he was committed to directing Spaced Invaders. He turned to Chris Columbus, who had left National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation before shooting started because of a personality clash with starring actor Chevy Chase, who Columbus said treated him "like dirt". Hughes gave him the scripts for both Home Alone and Reach the Rock; Columbus chose to direct Home Alone, as he found it funnier and liked the Christmas theme.
Played by Kevin's portrayer McCaulay Culkin's real-life brother Kieran Culkin in one of his many pre-Succession roles, Fuller acts as a hilarious addition to the family. Meanwhile, Kevin wakes up to find the house empty and is overjoyed to find that his wish came true. He takes Buzz's life savings, practices shooting with Buzz's BB gun, jumps on the bed, watches a gangster film, and eats a large amount of junk food. For the film within a film, Angels with Filthy Souls , shooting took only one day, on the final "test day" prior to the official start of principal photography.
Bamman may not have seen Uncle Frank as a villain but plenty of fans did. Initially, he recalls being “almost mobbed” wherever he ran into fans eager to meet everyone’s least favorite uncle. Yet the dawn of the internet saw Uncle Frank become the subject of any number of weird and wonderful fan theories that only further enhanced his status as the true villain of the piece. The most prominent of these centered on the notion that Uncle Frank was, in fact, a criminal mastermind who hired Harry and Marv to rob his brother’s house. However, its owners were clearly expecting more for the iconic property; its original listing price was $2.4 million. Peter Billingsley recently reprised his role as Ralphie for the surprise sequel A Christmas Story Christmas, at the age of 51.
Concerned that the film might exceed that amount, Hughes met secretly with 20th Century Fox before production to see if they would fund the project if Warner proved inflexible. According to executive producer Scott Rosenfelt, a copy of the script was "clandestinely" delivered to Fox, bypassing the legal restrictions that would have otherwise prevented Fox from seeing it until the project was in turnaround. Warner demanded that it be cut by $1.2 million; the producers responded with a memo arguing that the budget could not be cut any further. Unconvinced, Warner shut down production the next day, but it quickly resumed when Fox took up Hughes on his offer. Another of the parade of insults that Kevin is subjected to in the opening of the movie, this time for the crime of not knowing how to pack his own suitcase. Running out of the store in fright with the toothbrush still in his hand, Kevin is chased as a shoplifter but gets away after a fun chase through a skating rink. On his way home, staring down at his plastic plunder, Kevin shakes his head and laments that he's now technically a successful criminal.

Columbus did an uncredited rewrite of the script, which included the character Old Man Marley. He added the character to give the story a more serious layer, as well as a more emotional, happier ending. Home Alone was initially set to be financed and distributed by Warner Bros. Hughes promised that he could make the movie for less than $10 million, considerably less than most feature film production budgets of that era.
It’s really hilarious and also fun to say, which makes it one of the most memorable Home Alone quotes. Behind the curtains of some homes, however, holiday entertainment arrives through TCP packets and The Pirate Bay, neatly wrapped in an MP4 container. Both these characters just want company and affection, and on the surface, Kevin provides it in a one-sided manner.

I just wish they were more because I enjoyed what I did.” Even so, Columbus, who Bamman describes as a “very patient, very organized, very gentle” director, encouraged improvisation. We all have that one uncle or aunt who can be cruel, cheap, cantankerous, selfish and often downright rude. And yet, because they are family, we endure them over the holidays, safe in the knowledge that our coming together is only a temporary arrangement. From the moment Bamman looked down his nose at a young Macaulay Culkin and uttered the legendary words, “Look what you did you little jerk,” Uncle Frank has been the living embodiment of those memories. But according to Devin Ratray, the girlfriend in question was actually a boy in costume. Ratray told Yahoo in 2013 that the producers thought that casting a girl in the role would be just plain cruel, so they opted for a boy instead.
